Well Hello Internet people, this is my first post for this blog, I am really
looking forward to posting about my mishaps and successes with training my
dogs. Just to be clear I am not a professional dog trainer nor claim to be one,
I am just a normal person that enjoys training and spending time with my dogs,
I compete in competitive obedience and lately decided to start teaching
my dogs some tricks to add to their repertoires.
I have always loved dogs and as a child we always had dogs as well as an
array of many other animals, I always wanted to do dog training but you know
how it goes when you are a child but the idea always stuck with me and when I
was a young adult still studying my dad brought home a Fox terrier mix puppy. I
grabbed the opportunity with both hands and found a professional dog trainer
near my home so Menchi (yip that is what we called the poor puppy) and I went
for training, it was very strict and rigid but we did well and I full of
enthusiasm searched the net for dog activities and came upon the world of dog
agility, it looked very exciting and I spend hours on Youtube watching videos (
I still do), but the classes I was at only did obedience, that is until one day
I pitched for class and there was nobody, clearly the lady decided to stop
training at that venue and just didn't bother to let me know, the next week I
pitched again but nothing, I was very disappointed but decided to start
searching again, after phoning numerous numbers I finally ended up with a person
that was part of a dog training club and the best thing, they did dog agility
too! i was so excited, so that Saturday Menchi and I went to the dog
training club, it was in the next town but that didn't matter, it was a bit
intimidating at first, huge grounds, lots of dogs, different training method but
I enjoyed it even more, that was about 7 years ago and I am still training at
the club, and I still love training my dogs.
